Barron Lake Kids Triathlon (Non-competitive)

25 Yard Swim, 1.2 Mile Bike, .5 Mile Run

This exciting event is for kids 6 to 11 years old who are able to swim 25 yards unassisted and ride a bike without training wheels. This is not a timed event, we encourage the kids to finish and finish safely. Parents are welcome to run and bike with their kids during the race and help them through transition.

There will be a mandatory pre-race meeting and walk through at 9:30am by the kids transition area. During this meeting each stage of the race will be explained to the athletes. We want this race to be as much about learning as about having fun. As a group they will walk down to the lake to begin the race. There will be several life guards in the water, the 25 yard swim parallel to the shore in water about waist deep and will begin in a time trial fashion.

After a short jog to the transition area they will mount their bikes and begin the 1.2 mile bike ride. There will be several monitors on their bikes to ride along with the kids and volunteers at the corners to guide the way. For the run there will be monitors to accompany the kids as well. The race will conclude as the kids finish across the same finish line as the adults.

The kids have the option to be body marked and will be given a swim cap. Each athlete must have their own bike (no training wheels or tricycles) and helmet. No one will be permitted to compete without a helmet. Athletes must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted but personal flotation devices are allowed.
