Event Overview
A fantastic introduction to the sport!
This exciting event is designed for kids aged 6 to 12 years old who can swim 25 yards unassisted and ride a bike without training wheels. The Kids Non-Competitive Triathlon is not a timed event; instead, we encourage participants to focus on finishing safely and having fun. Parents are welcome to run and bike alongside their kids during the race, providing support and assistance throughout the transition.
Pre-Race Meeting
A mandatory pre-race meeting will be held at 9:30 AM near the kids' transition area. During this meeting, each stage of the race will be explained to the athletes, emphasizing the importance of learning and enjoyment. Participants will then walk as a group down to the lake to begin the race, with several lifeguards present in the water. The 25-yard swim will start in a time trial format, allowing each child to enter the water safely.
Race Details
After completing the swim, participants will make a short jog to the transition area, where they will mount their bikes for a 1.2 mile ride. Monitors will accompany the kids on their bikes, and volunteers will be stationed at corners to guide them along the route. For the run segment, additional monitors will be present to support the young athletes as they navigate the course. The race will conclude as the kids cross the same finish line as the adult participants.
Kids have the option to be body marked and will receive a swim cap for the event. Each athlete must have their own bike (no training wheels or tricycles) and a helmet, as no one will be permitted to compete without a helmet. While athletes must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted, personal flotation devices are allowed.
